It's interesting how when the government pays for something, whether it be scientific research, subsidized housing, or disaster relief, we call it "government funded". It's as if the government has money of its own to spend. When in reality, it's the taxpayers that actually provide the money. I much prefer the term "taxpayer funded". It's wholly more accurate and it reminds people the money they're talking about is actually theirs.

Good call. I'd like to hear that from time to time. Most citizens don't want to think they're funding a war, so remind them from time to time that they are funding things that are peaceful as well.
